Principal Systems Engineer (Electro-Mechanical / Fluid Power)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Vice President/Principal Systems Engineer to replace a senior executive technical leader who previously oversaw system architecture, technology strategy, and the transition from advanced R&D to commercial-ready products.

This role combines deep hands-on systems engineering with technical leadership and strategic ownership, working across R&D, product development, testing, and early commercialization.

This is not a purely managerial role — the successful candidate must be technically strong, system-oriented, and comfortable making high-impact decisions in a startup environment.

Role Scope & Ownership

This role owns and drives:

  • Overall system architecture and technical direction

  • Performance, cost, and reliability trade-offs at the system level

  • Control systems and safety architecture

  • Technology roadmap from prototype → MVP → production

  • Technical decision-making across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control domains

  • Alignment between R&D, testing, and early production readiness

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the overall system architecture for EIC’s compression technology

  • Lead system-level trade studies to optimize performance, efficiency, cost, and manufacturability

  • Own interpretation of test data and validation of system behavior

  • Define control system architecture, safety concepts, and operational envelopes

  • Drive final technical decisions for MVP and production-ready systems

  • Guide and review detailed engineering designs across disciplines

  • Mentor and technically lead senior engineers and technicians

  • Collaborate with global teams (India, U.S., LATAM) across time zones

  • Support technical input for commercialization, customer discussions, and partnerships

  • Establish engineering best practices, documentation standards, and technical rigor

Required Qualifications

Technical Requirements

Strong, broad systems engineering background across:

  • Hydraulics and high-pressure fluid systems

  • Thermodynamics and heat transfer (ideal and real gas behavior)

  • Pumps, motors, and advanced motor control systems (VFDs, torque/speed control)

  • Electrical power systems and industrial controls

  • Sensors, instrumentation, and automation

  • Pressure vessel design and high-pressure safety systems

  • System integration, modeling, and simulation

  • Regulatory and certification frameworks (ASME, ATEX, IECEx, SIL)

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking

  • Ability to work with distributed, cross-functional teams

  • Excellent communication across time zones

  • High learning agility and adaptability

  • Startup mindset and flexibility
